Rodent

There are two main types of rodents found in Sri Lanka, namely the mouse (Mus musculus) and the rat (Rodentia). Once pregnant, rodents give birth after three weeks. Litters consist of 5 to 8 pups, and females can reproduce up to 10 times per year and produce a heavy population within a short period. Mice and rats are species with lifespans of 5–10 years. Rodents live in and around human structures, making their homes in wall voids, storage boxes, attics, barns, sheds, lofts, basements, crawl spaces, cabinets, Rodents carry disease-causing pathogens that can spread to humans through bites, scratches, and food contamination, as well as damage furniture. Other than that they act as carriers for a number of deathly diseases and germs.
