Termite

Termites are social insects with a well organized society. The termite life cycle follows three key stages egg, nymph, and adult (incomplete metamorphosis). The major castes in the colony are the queen, soldier, and worker castes. Termite queens can live 25 to 50 years, with a peak egg production of up to 10 years. Termites prefer to live in moist, warm climates. Wet or decayed wood, contact of wood with soil, and pooled moisture around foundations are favorable conditions for termites. Termites damage homes by creating loose tiles, sagging ceilings, and puncturing holes in drywall and wooden furniture and wooden structures.
